About Us

A few years ago, a member of the steering committee was approached by a generous benefactor of Graaff-Reinet with an exciting idea: to explore the possibility of creating a Special Rates Area (SRA). During the public discussions surrounding the proposed name change of Graaff-Reinet, it became clear that the town’s residents, across all demographics, shared a strong sense of identity and belonging. This unique sense of unity among our community sparked an idea — one that would bring together passionate, forward-thinking individuals who shared a common vision for the future of Graaff-Reinet.

It became evident that the SRA, also known as a Community Improvement District (CID) was possible and needed to be led by the people, for the people — a model where local members drive the changes they wish to see. With this vision in mind, a group of dedicated, like-minded individuals with the energy and enthusiasm to make a real difference were gathered, and a Steering Committee was formed. Together, we’re committed to shaping the future of our community and ensuring a thriving, sustainable Graaff-Reinet for all.
